The TL was the first and only Acura model for that year with BT. It's very well integrated in my car.

Curious - how come there's an escalade front end, complete with Cadillac badge on the front of a Silverado? Looks cool mind

I havnt seen that module you speak of. I think I would still prefer to have a manual control though. I dont wanna wait 30 seconds or more to turn my air on in the summer. It's not hard to turn a knob. I just moved the a/c controls lower. The 8" screen takes the whole area almost perfectly. I havn't had time to fiberglass everything yet. I'm decent with bodywork so I think it wont be too hard for me. If I run into problems, there is a guy at my work that will help me with it, and I know it will be nice if I get his help. But I still think I can do it on my own. I'm gonna at least try first. The front end was $3,000 for everything. I put it on myself but it takes a fair amount of mechanical ability and a small amount of welding. It's not a direct bolt on. I'm not sure what a body shop would have charged to put it on. If you check out my homepage, you will see some more pics of the install. Good luck.

I think your truck looks awesome. My fiancee has a 2004 stripped down Silverado and I wanted to put a carputer in it to give her everything I've got standard in my car, such as GPS, Bluetooth, etc., so I want to do about exactly what you've done. I'm going to have a lot of questions, and, since our cars are almost identical, can I ask you as I'm working through my project?

My first question relates to your answer about the a/c controls. I noticed a guy is selling an "articon (sp?)" card or something like that which will attach to the computer's serial port. It is supposed to control the a/c in the car. It comes with a thermometer to monitor inside temperature. Like I said, my fiancee has a stripped down version, so it would be really nice to add "auto" a/c to the computer as well. I'm wondering why you decided just to move the a/c units instead. Did you look into this "articon?" Is it crap?

My second question is also regarding the a/c controls. Someone stated they noticed you had removed them as well. I'm just making sure that is what you did. Does the 8" screen take-up the entire location where the stereo and a/c controls used to be? Hopefully our trucks are similar and you removed both. I think yours looks a lot more fabulous without the a/c controls. I was going to put in a different sized screen and leave the a/c controls until I saw your post, but I wanted to make sure that's what you did.

Third, I noticed you said it was time to get back to the interior. I was wondering if you were done putting the screen in there with fiberglass and all. I'm curious as to how hard that is. I've made tons of computers in my past, but anything that takes decent hands, like fiberglass modding/molding, well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be crap at. If you're done, how hard was it, honestly?

Lastly, and this is gouche, so you don't have to answer if you don't want, but how much did the body kit upgrade cost, meaning all the way from purchasing the kit and any required tools to paying someone to help (i.e., due to my lack of ability, I would screw it up and end up hiring someone to finish)?

I think that's enough questions for now. Sorry to bother you, but thanks for inspiring me to get this project moving.

I love watching a project like yours come as far as it has.

    Great Job.
