i agree, im about to draw out my strategy now since my pc is almost completely done. only thing is making the custom trim. maybe ill take pictures and document things as well . MOM can i borrow ur digital camera for a couple months

Don't want to hijack his thread - but my plan is to use a Thinkpad T30 w/docking station, Jeff Mucha's shutdown controller with an inverter (I think), and put a Xenarc 700TSV in the dash, taking out the existing factory nav system (what a piece of junk). I'll probably buy one of the E46 screen bezels that people here have offered to make/sell rather than fabing my own. I have the IBus module to send/receive the steering wheel messages, but haven't read enough yet to fully know how to use it.

I'm looking for some good advice on where to mount the laptop/docking station, since I'd like to be able to pull it out and use it outside the car as well. I'm thinking where the cd changer cage is on the left side of the trunk - maybe I'll yank all that stuff out. I also have to see if it's possible to use the factory FM antenna in the car, and possibly even the factory GPS antenna. My requirement for all of this is that I have to be able to put everything that was stock back in (and it has to work), so I can still sell it as "unmodified" when the time comes.

i dont think its highjacking, dasbell hasnt done anything in a while maybe we can all help eachother here, and if dasbell has a problem with it we can start our own thread. its not like we are listing our project install. . . yet


anyway, i cant wait to play with my trunk and see how everythign would fit. gork has the best install to me, find his thread if u havent already researched it.

Yeah, I think Gork's was the first post I read, which pretty much inspired me to go through with this craziness. So... your sig says 40%... let's see what you've got so far!

gamepad for my nes emulator ( i bet i can beat contra while driving ; ) thats what i tell my mom any way, she doesnt think its funny tho.)


everything is working - next step is to figure out the wiriing setup and all, and my friend clams to be a custom artist so ima see what he/we can do, before i spend 350 flippin dollars on a bezel.

and i have a mini case so im currently trying to decide where to fit it, iim taking the trunk out soon to kick off the party.

Sorry guys, I have a ton of new pics and I finished my Bezel. The computer is done too and I made some design changes. I'll try to get the site updated this weekend.

how do you plan to install the shutdown controller..i see that as the hardest step im gonna have to face with my install
