That's a great idea. I have the same front interior and a swivel display would rock. You have a lot more patience than me. Good work and kudos for tackling something many would hand over to a "pro".

P.S. You should wipe down your interior sometime! lol - Did you do your sanding in there?

Nice guys thanks for the response's. that face plate that is on there now is only temporary its just a piece of wood sanded down and painted real quick.

Ya that Vw symbol is huge its just the badge from the car, i just slaped it on there for now. not really sure what I am going to do for the new face plate but I will make a bunch and interchange them.

Actually the screen will open when the ignition is turned on and turned to close when shut of. BUT...I am not absolutily possitive as how to do it, I have a general idea. Thats one of the reasons I am posting up in this thread as my project is not complete.

So if any of you out there readin this have any knowledge in the area of basic stamps please bare with me in this thread as I would like to dig into a couple issues.

    Thank you

ok, i have a few questions...
    1. how well does unused bondo last. can you put the lid on it and come back 3 days later, will it harden.
    2. how did you achieve that texture and color on the shifter housing piece. That is the exact texture i visualize in my head.

    looks effin great

You can do it with a relay and a simple 555 circuit - easy. You are using a servo aren't you? don't want to trawl back though your pics - really cool but not when at work as i have to be discrete.

You want to look for a basic servo testing circuit using a 555 chip and potentiometers. not the type of tester thet just cycles the servo but one you can adjust a pot to move the servo. then you just have the relay set to enable one servo pontentiometer on the circuit when the ign is on and a different one when the ign is off. You also want to install a switch to turn the servo controller off when the ign is off and the screen has rotated back home.

Infact it is easier to build 2 circuits i think (they cost pennies to build). The first is enabled when the ign is on and has the open position and stays on so the servo holds its position. The second has the closed position setting and is on when the ign is off - unless the screen is closed (use a microswitch or reed switch and a magnet on the bottom of the screen enclosure).

That way you don't have the servo controller draining your battery.

I have a link to the 555 circuit at home if you can't find it.
