SVT Ranger ... can be done ..
put in the V8 from an explorer or mercury mountaneer( fits nice, same frame ).
stroke the hell out of it
put in all top end Cobra stuff ..

BTW, I used to have one of the first Rangers that could go underwater ( well 3/4 up the windshield )

    good luck on the install

hey man. nice effort. I really like your setup.

i have a question about the remote mounting the faceplate. I have almost the same model you have... CDA-9807 and want to remote mount the faceplate too. I ordered the connectors from Alpine directly, and fixed up a cable using CAT-5 netwrk cable... I probably made it to long, b/c the signal is not going through... I have to check on that. Can you please provide some info on how you fixed it up? Thanx man. Would ehlp a lot...

    Alpine remote faceplate parts

Can either of you who have done the Alpine remote mount faceplate tell me what parts you needed to order to make it easier? I'd like to see if they sell a cable specifically to tie the faceplate and the hu together - short of that, maybe I can by the part that the faceplate snaps into so that I can mold it into where I'm putting my 9855 faceplate, so it could click in like it does on the hu.

I looked into this as well, but we are talking completely custom here. The headunit and faceplate are separated and the wires are meticulously soldered together.

I called up Alpine, and had them fax me over the blown up pictue of my specific HU, Actually they gave me another number. Anyways. i ordered it off f that blown up picture. It cost me like $25. But my HU isn't working with the fix. If you want, i can sell the connectors, (b/c i think every Alpne has the same) so LMK.

    cheers

Not sure I understand - what exactly was it that you bought from Alpine? Have any pics?

WEll, been a long time since I posted, but here goes, yes to remote mount the head unit I used a VGA cable from a monitor removed the connector and soldered on the wires. the soldered them to the removed plug and plugged that into the head unit. Well, now the project is gone, too many kids had to get a bigger truck, But I will be building a new system in my 2005 Silverado. And to answer some of the bashes, the Ranger had NO NEON, NO FART CAN, none of the other "tuner crap." I was building an 1986 Turbo 2.3 from a Thunderbird with a T-5. Looking at about 10lbs of boost should have net me around 250+ hp. But sadly all that went with the truck. Sometimes you just gotta do the family thing.
    Install { 50% } Complete for now.
    But stable and running happily
