Thread: 1986 Vauxhall Calibra Carputer (or VCC)

Today I had to rewire some cables and then started to fit the dash in... some problems occured.
The dash did not fit cause the support wood was in the way.

Step 1:
Unmount the heater control unit, take it apart and rebuild it with the new pieces i got from junkyard.
The heater control unit got damaged whilst operating on it. Also the paint job had ruined some components.


Step 2:
Dremel the piece that got in the way. In this photo u can see where the dvd drive will fit in.


And here is the complete dash dremeled and unmounted:


Now the dash fits and all I have to do is attach the pieces together, that I will do tomorrow if I have enough time before work.
The next step now is to get the headunit relocated to the glovebox. Phew...

reading through the posts it occurred to me that monitor would get over-heated and would auto-shutdown accordingly.
So here I mounted two pc fans that can be activated from a switch to cool the display.

Fitted the dash in and attached the mid-tunnel with cig lighter: RESULT!!!!

Added the new gaiters today, and rebuilt the inside completely.
Looks cool now.
Final step now is to assemble the PC and shove it in the rear
