The color is off a tiny bit. So far nobody has noticed it until I mention it to them first, they're too distracted by the Carputer and how stock the screen looks in there. If you sat the stock piece and the new piece apart from each other, you probably couldn't tell the difference until you put them right next to each other for comparison.
I totally forgot to put up pictures. There are a few pics of my setup in another forum, I'll set up links to those in a minute.
Which SEM color is that? I'm going to be doing my console within a couple weeks if all goes well, but I havent found paint yet.
Hey...great work....you should think about coming to the NY meet next month...here is the link: NY (area meet) July 10
Via epia M10000
12.1" VGA touchscreen
120 GIG Maxtor
Geforce 5500 Videocard
Audigy NX USB sound card
Wireless Keyboard & mouse
Panasonic slim line -slot load
w/ usb adapter
that is pretty close, painting the other two pieces (vent trim and shifter trim) probably would be worth it... just to have an exact match between the pieces that are touching...
definitely would like to know the color used?
and has anybody found any good looking switches that work well in the stock locations?? (for me I have two blanks in the center and a few others over on the left hand side of the wheel)
so how much would people be willing to pay for this??
The dash piece runs $70, an extra Xenarc bezel is $25... so the first $100 would be for parts alone unless the person would supply these. I finished my first one and it came out great, I am 100% pleased - but now I have all this extra fiber, putty and paint... I could easily whip up about 5 of these... I searched on ebay for "wrx lcd" and there is a guy selling a cheapo low-res RCA only screen (it is one of the 234x480 units)... and he is getting $350 for the whole setup. The screen is probably worth $100 and he requires you to send him the parts... so I am thinking he is getting $250 in labor... I can definitely do it for less than this... and lately I have had plenty of extra time... any takers on this idea??
I would consider other vehicles, It would be easier if I have access to this car - so rare vehicles would be skipped, but any removable bezel will be just as easy to do - I will just have to rely on your judgements that there will be adequate clearance behind the piece... also the screen choice wouldn't matter either, cause I really just need the bezel...
(I can't get into my FTP right now so I can't host pics, but right now I can just let ya know that the quality is really good and I can email pics if needed.)
On of my biggest concerns with the monitor install in my STi is the use of the buttons on the monitor I choose. If you guys produce that product I am buying it and the the XENARC monitor as well.Originally Posted by RR BuGGz
One thing though I like the color of my 2005 plastics.
I got my ftp info...
Stimuli - buttons can be used or skipped as preferred... you can easily leave them, but I wanted the cleanest install possible... I am now tinkering with the idea of rerouting the IR "eye" up into the vent, this way I still have full remote control of the unit and don't have to bother with buttons... I personally think the buttons are hideous, no "factory-looking" install would have that type of button... it would be totally possible to fit larger buttons or to rewire all buttons to a hidden ashtray set of switches...
here's my ashtray as of now... (the rightmost item is a USB port...)
wow, dont think anyone has carpc'd a wrx before....
Is this where the witty comment goes?97 Black pearl Mazda Miata MX-5 Carpc V2? maybee..
