What about putting another hole next to the one for the buttons on the DVD drive?
Not sure where I'll mount it yet. But I know I wont be drilling any holes in the trim. Not that hard to extend the IR wire its only 3 wires. The DVD drive also has plenty of room for inserting a disc. It's no where near the shifter as someone mentioned it might be.
I had said that it would be too low if it was worked into the ashtray area...Originally Posted by RR BuGGz

He's talking about the gauge pack for the WRX STi... not the BMW... this is a pretty standard mount for WRX owners, but it puts the head unit on top of the dash...Originally Posted by Hark
for the e46 owners (I had an '01 325i, but couldn't live without turbo.. so I'm a wrx convert)... you have a few options, I had a screen installed in the ashtray/sunglass pocket area and used the factory head unit... the other options would be to use the Xenarc bezel in the factory head unit spot and move the climate control down to the sunglass pocket location... to use a head unit would require mounting it out of site (for cleanliness) and using one of the setups that can use a wired remote... Sony has a few, can't think of the others that offer such a setup...

Sorry been so busy barely have time to touch my own car. Here's a couple of shots. I just need to clean up the wiring and button everything back up as well as configure a few things on the software side and that's it.
