bump. any opinions?
I am working. Not really tho, just kinda chilling.
when you do that deck are you using what are you using network cable?? I am hoping you do because they are tiny and good to soldier. Make sure the wires match up to the faceplate and the deck it self. Good luck..As i am doing the same thing as you, but i am not sure which deck i am getting yet.
Get the Alpine. Their the best.Originally Posted by kickercivic1
I didn't succed to do the remote faceplate, so right now, i'm hacking the dash piece apart, b/c it won't work... i used network cable, but that is too stiff for the aplication. Than i tryied Thin Phone cable, and still nothing. So i gave up. I'm hacking my dash apart, and am going to lose the pocket under the monitor, and that's where the HU will be...
you want me to do the face extension for you?........

Oh, i would love that, but it's too late now. I already hacked apart the pocket. So i would have to buy a new bazel to get beck to normal. You'll ee on the meet how it turned out...Originally Posted by turbocad6

what kind of cable were you going to use to extend it?Originally Posted by turbocad6
depends how many connections... either db9 db15... a monitor cable...maybe a combo....I like to set up disconnects on each end.... a shielded cable could only help... once you get past 8 cables lan gets sloppy, one or two isn't bad though..... I really like a new monitor cable that I just found... slim with compact connectors...
I use two cables... one gets cut & the male end goes on one component the female on other.... then the other cable becomes the extension cable....
sometimes it depends what happens to be on hand too...

i ordered the stock connection inbetween the headunit, and the faceplate directly from alpine, and solderet three different lengths of cable in between them. But it still didn't recognize...
