Thread: 02 Vaxuhall Corsa SXI Worklog

Have been running my BU-303 in the corner of the dash for a few months now, Normally get 8 sats, lowest ive noticed is 7.

software im going to be running:
either 2k or XP - leaning towards XP for min logon and a few other things
will be using Road runner as a front end, have also played with FrodoPlayer but for me the menus are a bit busy to use while driving.
for GPS i will be using freedrive.

my power cables have been run and hooked up so im ready to start the install, xenarc is going to go where the double din HU was, PC will sit in the glovebox and the amp will sit above it.

the motherboard juts perfectly into the glovebox, but i cant quite fit in a pci card, going to have to cut the glovebox up so waiting for a spare.

sounds like a nice little project there mate! Keep us all updated with how things go - it's cool to see carputer installs in UK cars now and again - puts things more into perspective for me somehow

powr cables were in place so decided to try it out, nervousley put the key in the ignition.......Wait for PC to start....... NOTHING...... just as im about to take the key out it fires up

i had a few problems, i orignaly mounted the opus at the bottom of the glovebox, but it got in the way of the ports, so moved it to the top but had to turn it round because of the fan, ATX connector was too far away, so had to change the direction it was in, its ok now though



you cant realy see it in this pic but there is a lof of space behing the opening in all directions, so im going to mount my amp behind there (its only a 120W to power the stock speakers so its not v big) and the xenarc.

already thaught about that, there is quite a bit of room behid there and vents into the footwells, but theres also an air intake behind there to draw hot air away
