Hehe, did you watch Sunday's Pimp My Ride? They did some work on this guy's 2003 Corolla, and Mad Mike said, "This is the only Corolla with a computer in it"
LOL, I almost fell off my chair laughing.
Peace,

My Screen finally arrived, the MTSVO-SC from the Mp3Car store. The screen seems really high quality construction. I do have some complaints though.
The screen sticks out too far from my dash, so you can see the metal cage that holds it in place. I'll probably have to fabricate a new trim for it so that it covers up the metal cage.

Well, I have finished the first major step of my car install.
I spent the weekend with my parents. My Dad has lots of tools and experience with woodworking, so we were able to quickly come up with this:
Obviously, I owe a great deal to bulgogi777 for posting pics on how he installed his gear in his 2003 Corolla
However, instead of screwing into the floor of the trunk, I used liquid nails to attach a peice of oak to the floor. This is the only "permanent" part of the install.
The box flips down for easy access:
BTW.. in the first pic that's a peice of felt stuck to the top peice. The trunk arm lays right on top of it when the trunk is closed. It's the only thing needed to lock the box in place.
Many more pics can be seen here

I'm pretty sure you can get just about any part you want from the dealer... question is... how much is it going to cost?? Problem with that is, the dealer is probably your only option... no third party retailers unless your lucky. calling the junkyard may be an option though.
Thanks for looking, I've appreciated your input on Corolla's on the board!
I scoped out ebay for a while. Was able to pick up a set of vents (including the center HU dash/vents) for a song...Originally Posted by CapitaineFritz

I've seen them show up again from time to time for varying amounts of money (usually ~$30). The A/C heater control center piece (w/ clock, 4 ways, etc) is also on ebay from time to for like $65-100.
I would also check out this place....they seem to have a great selection from varying wrecks....

Hope that helps.
Bob. Yes, that's me.

Hey tellarite, lookin good mah man~! Just curious what kind of fabric did you use? Also, are you using an aftermarket amp?
Oh, btw, they totally bend you over if you buy dash pieces from the manufacturer. That center part on the dash with the markings for the A/C? It's basically a glorified sticker... $30!! (luckily my friend works at an autobody shop and he got it to me for at cost which is still ~$14, which i think is still way too expensive)

My Install
Fabric: It's real light fabric I picked up at walmart for $1. It's not the exact color of the trunk, but it's pretty close.
Amp: Yes, I'm using an aftermarket amp. It's a Kenwood KAC-8402. I don't have a pic up yet for it, but I mounted it directly behind where you see the computer. So it all fits nicely within the box.
I'll see if I can't get some more pics of that up soon.
Thanks for looking! And thanks again Bulgogi for your design. I think had I not seen your pics, my install would have been far less elegant.![]()
