Well guys here we go !
I think this is almost the first Nano ITX project
I got most of the parts in from digitalww and mp3car stores
Its on the bench and working from a spare car battery, the nano and m1 atx doesnt seem to use any power.
i have had the system run for 24 hours off the battery alone and the m1 didnt detect a low voltage !!!! this was powering the board in windows, displaying only the desktop, so power consumption would be minimal, I was chuffed at that result ! means that even if the power off doesnt happen, chances of a flat battery are minimal, the longest the car stands still for is 12-14 hours, this is also good for update purposes.
The nano heatsink has reached a high temp of 43.1 deg celsius when measured with my pyrometer, and this with the fan off, I will run it with the fan on in the car as the car environment isnt as controlled as a bench
The nano itx is awesome, I dont find it slow at all (my laptop 2ghz celeron with 512MB ram) is slower on most tasks, my desktop a P4 3.0 with 512mb is slower on some tasks but obviously much faster on others
What all I crammed into the box...made up by a local perspex supplier at a cost of 12USD
The boxes dimensions are
165mm x 210mm x 65 mm all dimensions are external
The innards
1 x M1 a t x power supply
1 x Nano itx mobo with 512MB RAM
1 x Dlink USB Fm Radio - hardwired to usb port to eliminate connections and also using the audio in of the cd on the mobo, so no external connections
1 x Griffin airclick receiver
1 x 60gb 2.5 hdd
1 x notebook adapter (although if you got the right cables the nano supports this natively
1 x a t x power adapter
1 x 60mm case fan
1 x slot load cd/cdrw/dvd
all it needs is power (+ and - and ign +)
and then the usb from the creative usb sound card to work 100%
here are a few pictures !
please comment and also please let me know if you are aware of anyone with a good obd interface for the Evo8 ?
