I moved here (from Detroit) about two years ago and was very happy to find LOTS of modified stangs down here in Alabama. I think I've been a miss-placed redneck my whole life! Most the locals focus on horsepower, but (being a redneck geek) I'm doing the CarPC before installing the supercharger. Then I'll be able to log stats and make live mods the the ECU... I'll show these Southerners a thing or two. Most nights the Mustangs corral over at the local Stake-n-Shake to talk shop or show off their latest mods... I love this place!

Sup people, just thought I'd share some of my pics. I did this a few months ago and did something similar to Specimen's. Id have to say, yours looks nicer . yes the plastic is on the screen. I couldnt find the room for a cd/dvd drive. I also have the VoomPC case and put it on the floor behind the passenger seat on top of a small pilow. I will change it to some nice foam, but until then, the pilow dampens the shock.

I did find use for the ashtray found in the 95's. I put a manual AMP switch, power/reset buttons, and power/hdd LED's.

Also, Specimen, I saw how you integrated USB and FireWire ports up front; nice. This is what I did. Coin holders are useless here in Arizona... yes I know its dirty, will clean first thing tomorrow.

VERY NICE! How on earth did you do the lettering and Mustang logo on your switch?. The USB port is also nicely placed. Where did you end up mounting the PC? Sucks how pictures show all the crud and dirt in the crevices of our cars!

I might mount it where the convertible top retracts when the top is down. I've looked around there and it looks like I might be able to hide it in there while saving room in my trunk. Still need to do some measurements though.

Been there done that. I got all the wires ran, perfect spot. I bolted the case onto the back metal piece. Everything was going great (here it comes) I drove around town two or three times, installed the back seats, got everthing back together.... tried to put up the top, jsut for ****s and grins I sat in the back seat while putting up the top, and the glass window in the top caught on the carPC, and wouldn't let the top go up. So I had to tear apart hte whole damn thing.

I'm trying to get ideas right now, on where to put it. rofl

I jsut can't find any decent spot! I HAD THE PERFECT SPOT!.........

I had the switch plate laser cut at the place I work; an trophy and plaque award shop. The Logo and letering was also laser engraved on. Same goes for the USB plate.

I put the PC behing the passener seat on the floor; its not mounted down thou.

Knightofoldcode - I guess I will have to investigate the area I was talking about a little more. Good thing the glass didn't break. I think I'm just going to keep it where it is for now and wait for a smaller case. The GF likes it where it is now cause its a great foot warmer.

XtremeSteel - looks good. That is how mine looked before I molded it. I used the headrest panel just like what you did to get the correct contour of the screen. I wanted mine to look as stock as possible so I added some epoxy and bond to make it a smooth finish. It was a bit tricky to get the CD in there since the screen takes up a lot of room, but if you cut some more up near the AC vents move the screen up, there is enough room for it. To bad you aren’t closer to Phoenix, I just bought a house in AZ and I’m out there a lot. Would have been cool to see your install.

Glad to see more mustangs out there that are doing the same mods that I did. Keep up the good work guys.

Yeah i would love to know the answer to this too cause i could easily go to a junkyard and snatch a computer from a newer stang, but i believe you need the sensors that were not offered in our year stang

i think the obd2 plugs into the existing obd plug in our cars, because we have the obd1 obd2 hybrid... (obd1 computer with obd2 wiring) so i thing the only thing involved is to retune the computer which will be a pain in the ***, but an obd 2 has a lot better tuneability.

ok so i check with my friend that did the same swap. all we need is the computer and someone to tune it. if u want to get the sensors that obd1 didn't have then u can, but are cars already have the important sensors, the computer will set codes for the missing sensors but they can easily be deleted from the compuer so that the dash doesn't look like a christmas tree. unfortunatly getting a computer tuned isn't cheap (roughly $200) after this christmas i'll have a laptop and a tuning program so i'll gladly tune anyones computer that is in my area, i'll do it cheap probably like $50 plus gas or u can drive out to me. so anyone else interested in the swap let me know and we can work something out.
