Since I am planning to put a carputer in my new car, some research is in order! Well, research since that is what I have time for between classes.
Like LUWE SYGABUI, I like to look of the factory stereo. That may change but for now I like it. I found the wire harness pinout for the radio. More interestingly, it appears that the car comes with the aux-in jack cabling in place. All that needs to be added is the jack itself, it has a 6 pin harness already in the dash that the jack plugs into and just goes. Also confirmed my suspicion that the wireing for the steering wheel radio controls is already there, just missing the buttons.
Hopefully this weekend I can take the car apart and take some pictures of the process and see for myself that the wireing harnesses are there. I havn't seen much in the way of dissassembly of the 2006 Civics yet.

My car doesn't have it. The 2dr LX and the EX and Si have it, but mine dosn't. However, the way Honda set up their assembly line, the wireing harness is included in my car, but taped inside the dash. I should just have to buy (or fabricate) the harness to add that function.Originally Posted by Luderboy

Like Wezel said, the beauty is that Honda built the 6-pin connector right into the car, so all you have to do is pop the plastic piece up from around your shifter. It will pop right off, there are no screws. The 6-pin connector is right there behind that in the dash. The in order to tap into it all you need is a stereo cable R+, L+, and a common -. Take the Brown, Black, and White wires and connect them all together with the common wire in from your addon cable. Then, hook the green with your R+ and the yellow to your L+ or your addon cable. You are set!!! Hit the CD/AUX button and listen to whatever you feed it.
One thing I would like to figure out is, where I can tap into with my sub amp remote power wire.
For that you should look into the wiring on the EX and where the sub on that is hooked up. I'm not entirely sure what you mena by the sub amp remote power wire. Do you mean where you can get power for the amp, or a remote power button?

I think I've been lost for the rest of the semester. Between just work and school I'm at 80 hours a week, and I sleep most of the rest of the time. I intend to build in a carputer, but right now I don't have the energy to put into it.

My CD / AUX button turns on the CD player.
How would it connect to the 6 pin connector if instead if I installed a cable?

Joe: The CD/AUX button toggles between the CD and AUX line if there is something attached to the aux line.

I just ordered a blitzsafe to use the CD changer input, ugh. That's $100 down the drain, wish I would have read this thread first, as I think I can do this for less than $10 for the cable I'll have to splice into this. Guess I'll have a Honda blitzsafe cd change input to sell on ebay.
Two questions: 1) Do you know that the colors/pinouts you list are correct because you've tried it? I looked on the web and couldn't find this anywhere else, so I just basically wanted some confirmation. 2) Did you disconnect the battery before doing this?
Thanks in advance Luwe. Also, I was reading your thread about you in dash carputer, and was wondering how that project is going. Very impressive! I've never done anything like that, but after reading your thread, now I'm thinking of tearing into my brand new car's dashboard as well! I think I'll wait for your updates on how it's going though.
