    my (planned) MP3 car

nothing purchased as of yet (except two 5 meter USB cables, a 4 port USB hub, and a USB to IDE adapter that are all in the mail)

I plan on doing an 8, or 10inch touch screen (wouldn't 10 be nice? ) fibreglassed into the dash, with a slot load DVD rom drive underneath, and 4 USB ports for connecting my digital camera, ram drive, webcam, keyboard, game controllers, etc up front.

the "brains" of the car PC, will simply be my laptop, seeing as I'm a lazy bugger

the vehicle its going into can be seen here:

    http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=4702

I intend on temporarily relocating the climate control to the glove box, and would LOVE to be able to control it using the touch screen in the future (we shall see)

stereo is (planned) to be two 15inch subs, in a 4th order bandpass box vented through the parcel shelf, with Peerless drivers in front and back (8inches in the front, 6.5inches in the rear)

    any comments/suggestions?

so you got the car computer bug :-)

i suggest going with an 8" anyting bigger then that is kinda out of place in the car (a big *** flat panel doesn't look too good when the car is just parked and sitting there imho)

I didn't realise I was installing a screen just for what it looked like when the car was parked, and not being used

    if I can fit a 10, I'll go with a 10, if I can't, I wont

PS, I got the carputer bug about 5 years ago

    EEEEBAAAAY!!!!

it has both 44pin for a laptop harddrive, and 40 pin for a full size drive I'm using a full size DVD rom, so thats fine by me

only think is, it comes with a switchmode powersupply to run the drive off the mains voltage... but thats ok something I don't need, but meh.

Those cars are really nice, pure VIP luxury. Seat warmers, quad overhead cam V8, traction control, dual airbags all stock options all in a 16 year old car. All its missing is a fat touch screen in the dash
    Continued Worklog... Upgrades in progress:
*15.4" WXGA LED backlight touchscreen upgrade
    *Custom fiberglass dash bezel
