I should have described it better, the pannel on the left is one that i bought from honda for $40, and the one with the cardboard is me doing a to-scale test to see if i can fit it, the last pic is of a GPS/VHF antenna. from a volvo truck, he he he.(the only reason im using it is because it didnt cost me a thing)

i mean yes umm.... i made that... all by me self ... ok no i didn't

oh i see. I wish i could do that for my car. DC5 Type-r's come with a screen so i could use the bezel but the right hand drive would make it backwards =(.

its going to look very close only im using a 10.2" screen not a 7" and I'm going to try to elimiate all the buttons. aswell as im going to try to recess the screen so that its facing me flat/dead on.

did you install that pannel into you car, if so dose the screen dim from the angle?
Life Dosn't come with a reset button, if it did you might as well turn the game off.

Reffering to the title of this thread, I'd say you should keep it outrageously simple...

That screen is going to be huge in that space. I thought about removing the buttons, which is why I took it out of the car, but I'm trying to figure a way to extend the ribbons to underneath the dash. You know, where that little cubby is underneath.

Anyhoo, any updates? By the way, congrats on your Si. These little cars are amazing. I test drove every car in the same class and this is the only one that remotely impressed me. The MKV GTI wasn't even close.

the sd port on my laptop isnt working right now so i'll update as soon as i can. I cut up the dash peice that i bought and it looks like the 10.2" might fit... kind-of... its bigger then expected, i thought i compensated for the rim around the screen and its depth but it was a 1mm (1/16") bigger on every side and thats quite a bit i might have to *squrm*shave the vent down abit and relocate the SRS light thingy... I cut a peice of glass so i can have the screen as far away from my dremel as posable, i needed a hard surpace to act like the screen so the bezzle dosn't de-form as im trimming and fitting. one of my buddies from work scratched his BRAND NEW screen during his Tuson install and its f***ked i dont want that to happen to me or theres 500 down the drain.

btw i think that the buttons are more or less useless aslong as the IR is visible, all of the same fetures are there and its alot less clutery, my other buddy did his wrx and eliminated the buttons aswell and it looks very clean. Although the Xenarc buttons are very nice and they seem to add to the overall look.

Now the big question is... do i put the cdrom in front of the screen or behind sticking up?? here is is what i mean.

wot u saying is clearified by the pic. it seems you want to place it up or down. ID go with UP just because its conventional. U gon have to do some "chop chop" there for ur screen. lol good luck tho'!
