Awesome Project. Please tell me how you kept the volume and track controls on the steering wheel.
That's strange! is the rr executable or the skin files? Are you one dial up or broadband? I would say try again.
BTW, the skin you saw is simplistique(http://www.kompassist.co.uk/simplistique.zip) by lloyd. Just search for his name in the forum I think he has the more update version in his own thread.

post is back from the dead.
This is a great guide to setting up a carputer in a e46 and doing a good Job of it.
Zebel i hope your still part of the forums. i got a question for you and hope you can provide me some input because i know it will help the fellow people in here also setting up an e46 install.
My mother board is a intel atom 330 dual core.
i'm gonna use the soundcard on board.
To hook up my sound what do you recommend other the sven4 and the M-Audio Audiophile. i dont want to order them off the net. i hope you know of something that a futureshop, bestbuy and car audio store should carry that will work the same.
I am assuming you will be keeping the factory Amp. Even if you use the motherboard's sound card you still need the SVEN4; otherwise the sound volume would be low. The sound coming from PC is really crappy, it is unbalanced, for example 8v is 0 and 8+ where in balanced mode there are three wires -4, ground, +4. SVEN4 converts it from unbalanced to balanced which is what factory AMP requires. I have read some poeple avoided SVEN4 by just adding a line driver boosting the volume but that is not the same.
The reason I used the M-Audio was for my Sirius tuner which provided me digitial audio output. The m-audio was perfect to translate different types of input, analog or digital into 4 RCA analog output which is what the OEM amp takes as input.
yes, keeping the factory HK amp
so if i want good audio then the sven4 is a must, or at least in your opinion it is the best way to go about it. (gonna get one off ebay)
Also, if i dont plan on using sirius, or xm radio then i really dont need the M-audio..
Event with SVEN4, I was unhappy with the volume so I also installed a 4 channel line driver from SoundGate.
Keep in mind that going with motherboard sound card, you most likely have only two RCA channel (left and right) which means you have to use Y cables to get four RCA channels out of it going into the SVEN4.
There are other input converters you may consider. Check out http://www.logjamelectronics.com/auxinpconv.html
That is where I also got my SoundGate 4 channel line driver from.
ah so i'm finally ready to install. i got all the parts and its gonna happen this weekend.
Just gotta find out one more piece of info..
whats the best way to power the screen?
i have a lilliput 701 and m2 atx.
Should i power the screen via the cigarette lighter, or somehow plug it into the PSU??
I powered up the LCD from the PSU. My PSU did output a nice regulated 12V line. This does not mean you cannot use the cigarette ligther to power it. I assume the line would not be as clean but I know my LCD came with the cigarette lighter adapter so it should be safe.
so i got the comp installed and wired in and its running pretty good.
i just gotta play around with the shutdown menu.
So as expected the volume is very low and i can't find a Soundgate AVM4 4 channel linedriver.
Is there any other device i can find at a radioshack, or a Source that will do the same thing??
How about a 4 channel amp?
