CCA is the BMW Car Club of America. You get a minimum of 10% off parts everywhere....but Pacific offers 15% off.

$120 is highway robbery for just the back window. My sedan was $155 for the whole car (more windows) and they used second-to-highest grade Formula 1 tint.

Go somewhere else on the tint job.

Gps is installed, I have stuck the antenna within one of those holes under the rear deck. It still get reception. I have not added all my receipts but have stack of them, the project so far cost me roughly near 2k. Oh, I am in San Diego.

    www.bmwcca.org

    It's something like $40/year.

A coupe tint job should be closer to $150-$175 for the whole car. I'm in TX so YMMV.

    Building the carputer rack

Here are the pictures of the rack I made. I have to give credit to Gork; I followed his idea as it made sense to place the PC in a rack mounted in the trunk below the HK subwoofer. The cool thing is that you can access the wires by bending the back seats.

I added two industrial velcro pads flushed with the surface of the carpet.

I have installed velcro tape around the rim of the rack so I can later add a front access panel.

With the back seats flipped down I can access wires behind the PC.

    Running wires to the rack:

Building the carputer rack- Phase 2

I made a hole, more like a cutout, on the rear corner of the rack to pass wires and cables. I added a clip so I can slide the cables in and out of the hole.

I used a piece of plummer's tape, rolled one end of it and covered it with the carper material:

Determining the desired gap before screw the metal piece into the wood:

Now I can easily slide the cables in and out.

Mounting the carputer rack to the trunk

Here is how I mounted the rack to the chasie. I used four L shaped metal braces I bought from Home Depot.

    Updates

The carputer seems somewhat stable now. To overcome the Source Sych issue with M-Audio, I have setup my RR to go straight to SIRIUS upon start up which powers up the SIRIUS tuner so the M-audio can sync with 'extenal source'. I am ok with this constraint at this point. To void this altogether I can always use the analog output instead of optical output of the SIRIUS.

I have already put back the center console, the backseat and right sider liner.
    What is left:

-Make a panel to cover the rack, I have already put velcro tape around the front rim of the rack all I need is to put the trunk liner and cut a piece of wood going across from one side to another.

    -Play around with skins.

Dman! I think I am done!
