Zebel.. can you help me out on teh Sven4 install ?? quick question, on the output are you using the RCA jacks to basically hook it up to the amp ?? or are you using the wires, and pruchased a BMW Stereo Harness and hooked it up through that ?? and on the Input did you use RCA jacks and used that to hook up to your sound card ???

Input of SVEN4 is the 4 RCA output from m-Audio.
Output of SVEN4 are the 8 speaker wires that are connected to the 8 speaker wires of BMW harness.

great, thanks .. each of those 4 rca jacks, are not labled, and i already lost the little manual that came with the hardware.. haha..at the top of your head, you wouldnt by any chance know the labeling of the 4 RCA on the input side of the sven4 ?? thanks.

another question..

You tapped into the Battery power cable, from your PSU to the cable correct ?? if so, what form of tap. did you do ?? I am trying to figure out best way to tap into the battery cable, or should i just go straight to the terminals ??

also if you dont mind, can i get your opinion on the current setup i will be doing to connect my soundcard to the SVEN4 ?? below is a quick Diagram of the setup, let me know if i am doing this correctly or not ?? and thanks again, for all the help.

My PSU expects both constant and switched 12V. Of course if your PC is in the trunk you just connect the constant 12v input straight to the battery terminal which is also in the trunk.

For switched 12V, you can get it from the BMW harness (red wire). Note that this is only for trigger and does not need to support much ampage, may be 100-200 MA. So you could also tap into the 12v input going to the amplified antenna inside the c-Pillar, this would be closest 12V switch to the trunk.

As for the diagram, Are you keeping your factory amp or planning to use an after market?

If you keep the OEM amp then I am not sure how your 7.1 sound output is going to work with it. All you need to connect to SVEN4 are four RCA cables: two for front and two for rears speakers. There is no separate channel for subwoofer which you mentioned in your diagram.

thanks for the reply.. ok great, my pc will be in trunk so i guess i will tap into the battery terminal..

well with my soundcard, since its DTS and i am not going through a decoder, i was planning on switching the settings to Stereo, my only outputs on the soundcard are wat is listed which is , front, surround, surround, and subwoofer.. and yes i will be keeping my stock amp, setup for now.. I am beginning to think my soundcard is just not worth it

.. looks like i might have to switch over to the M-Audio line..

EDIT: The M-Audio you have, did you hack up the power adapter that came with it as well, and wire into your PSU ?? I heard firewire hardwares dont need power source, the firewire connection supplys enough power ?? thanks again..

The m-audio can either use the power from power input plug, 12V 1amp or use the power via the Firewire. Of course it is easier to use Firewire but you have to calculate your PC's total power consumption see if you exceed the total wattage your PSU supports. If you decide not to use Firewire (6-pin) power or you PC PSU exceeds the wattage then use a Point Of load to power it. It gives you a cleaner and regulated juice.

Good thing about m_audio is that it decodes and outputs to four RCA channels, that can be taken as inputs to your amp.
