any pic of "fatty" and assorted components which go into your setup...
Well Im getting a psp in a couple days and with that I plan on throwing "fatty" into the trunk of the chumpwagon. Fatty is a dell 500mhz P2/3? with some ram. Shes called fatty because well, she weighs a ton. Now here is how I see things going to plan...
Im going to use a shoutcast server to access all of the music on the multiple hard drives. This has been done before as I used to own a psp. Using winamp this can be done very easily and works like a charm. Im going to use a usb wireless B umm whatever they are called to connect the psp to the computer. Im going to somehow wire the 3.3v line from the psu to my FM transmitter so I dont have to worry about AAA batteries. I would like to get this thing as slimmed down as performance goes. Im currently installing xp pro (laugh, I know its funny) so hopefully I can get it to hibernate in seconds. This is the plan and I think it will work well. I probably wont use this that much and switching to a cd or other radio station will be very easy so if it just ends up taking space in my trunk then so be it, its a big trunk.
Any suggestions??? I would really like to hear some feedback on this good or bad.

That would be fatty. Looks like sheI havent received the psp yet but it should be here in a couple of days. I have used a psp to control a winamp before and it works very nicely. The only thing Im worried about is getting fatty to go into hibernation when I hit the power switch in stead of just shut down.
Seems like an ATX system with a softbutton as powerbutton, should be no problem to set that option in 2K or 2000.Originally Posted by post_break
Dell being the jerks they are make everything propritary (sp?)... so I tried to hook a regular switch to the jumpers to get it to turn on and the only thing I can do is get her to reset. I tried every option on the pinout and havent gotten it to work. If I can remotly start her with a switch and some long wires I cant use her. You can see the ribbon cable Im talking about in the picture, just below the molex that has a black plastic cover on it.
The gui for the psp will be this.
I should have an LCD on the way also that I will connect to the serial port. That is if I get it working.
Hopefully a friend can help me do this with my lcd. Im getting the same lcd FREE!!!!

Well I got shocked like no other today. I threw fatty and a monitor in my trunk just for kicks. Well she fired up and gave me a "cannot find hard disk 1/0" error. So I shut it down and checked to see if I left the hard drive in. I did but I got shocked by the case. So I figured that wasnt a good sign. I unplugged everything and opened fatty up to get the hard drive. I grabbed the hard drive and plugged it into another ide channel. Fired up again and the same error. So I shut down and grabbed the hard drive, after a few seconds my hand went sorta numb and I let go. Not a good sign. It was like one of those shock lighters or maybe five were going off in my hand. So why did this happen? Im pretty sure the hard drive is toast but the mobo could still boot to the bios, odd.
Why did this happen? 400w inverter, powerstrip, computer and crt monitor.
The plugs I was using were not grounded as this could be the problem. I used an adapter to go from 3 prong to 2 (doesnt have the ground plug)
Can anyone help me fix this before I blow up a good computer?
Well I hit a huge road block yesterday. Turns out I cannot access my computer via adhoc, only infrastructure..... so this means Im either going to have to throw a wireless router in my trunk or write to the developers of the homebrew browser to ad adhoc to the compatable list.
