@Odyssey... Is that cornbread thing from that Eddie Murphy movie "Life"? That movie was too funny, and much better plot and dialog wise then I expected. Damn, now I got to go rent it and burn it...

@Enforcer... No, no peanuts in the cornbread. Sorry. I am working on a workaround to try and hack the peanuts into the cornbread, but am still struggling with the proper mix of corny and nuttiness... wait, looks like I just nailed both! LMAO...

i'm following your thread too. i'm in a 2001 a4. i'm probably pulling the trigger next week (payday) on everything. i'm going to get started first with a simple mp3/video/nav setup with a dvd slot load drive. so far i'm thinking of doing the slot vertically left or right of the screen to fill up some space (7" screen). if that doesn't work, i'll do it above it below. i'll be recessing the top back in and making a little hood over the top to reduce glare. if i can recess it far back in enough to where the reflection points up to the sunroof, i can keep the slide pulled shut to reduce glare.

i'll be ditching the factory head unit and bose speakers though. the things i still need to do more research on are:

1. car pc -> sound card -> amp -> speakers/sub
2. power: making sure the alternator is sufficient, battery, etc. delaying the shut down (hibernation) to a few minutes after i leave the car, stuff like that.

the technical knowledge of wiring and electronics and all of that is what i lack. i have full confidence in mounting the screen and getting it IN the car.

Since everyone in here has these cars how about someone does me a favor since I'm lazy.

Does anyone have a graphical representation of the dimensions of the cutout of our radio opening? If not I could find the 2 minutes it would take to do it but it is cold outside
