this vehicle has a climate controlled glovebox, I would not see a need to drill any holes.
I was only half serious that you'd have it done by June 24When you figure out the speaker / amp situation, I'm interested in what you're gonna do about that. Also, did you plan on running FM/AM radio or some form of Sat radio? Or is it just MP3s?
Edit: Just re-read first post...saw you're going XM. So you're eliminating FM/AM altogether, right?

current system: car2pc adapter playing aux in for a sansa fuze media player. simple. cheap. effective.
I am sorting out the audio part as we speak (type). I found a user on the audiworld forums that has a good write up on replacing the factory stereo with an aftermarket in his 2003 A4 avant. Looks like I need 1 4-channel amp at the minimum. I'll have all the details of the audio in my worklog as I move forward. I will not be using AM or FM for now, and XM will come later. For now, stage 1 is just mp3 and cd for music.
@Paul H - It is the symphony double din radio. It has a 6 disc in-dash changer.

Update:
Here is the diagram for my system. I'm going to add it to the OP too. I know the audio stuff needs to be figured out still, but how does the rest look?
EDIT: This diagram gets updated as I figure stuff out...

How are you powering that amp?
Don't forget the fuses.
Still looking good.

that fine for the main fuse, but I suggest you us a distro block after that. Check out my faq on wiring an opus, its the same principle.Originally Posted by Puffanug

Yeah, distro block. Have one main fuse, then a distro block with individual fuses.

There are two types of installs and in those installs you have several levels.@Paul H - It is the symphony double din radio. It has a 6 disc in-dash changer.
The main differense is that the normal (cheapest one) has 2 front speakers in the door and wired directly to the radio output and each level up has more speakers and options, like active speakers
The bose system has a amp. instead of direct radio output.
The radios are the same but they are programmed with the bose option so the internal amp(in the radio) is off.
if you have a Bose system it's diplayed on the radio when you turn it on and it's on the door panel.
