Yesterday I got my LCD kit! Right now installing nLite to see what it's like. And as it takes forever to wait while nLite generates XP, I decided to take some pictures of my development environment:

    Regards,

    Steve

PS. Out of interest, what software have you used to do your wiring diagram ? I'd like to do something similar if you could send me the source file it would be appriciated. Email link is on my site.

I think this is what he meant.

Nice, I'm working on my brother's system it was going to go in his 02 WRX, but he has decided to go with an 07 WRX so we are holding of on installing it.

Nice wheels; Rota Tarmacs or 04 Sti wheels?

Hey, those are 5x100 STi BBS wheels, I like them too. '06 WRX wheels are super ugly.

Question for WRX guys: Do you guys take both ignition wire and regular 12v to power PSU from headunit?

I am getting really anxious as I am getting closer and closer to moving car-pc into car. I might start this weekend, might start next. It's been raining and I have to do all my job outside -- don't have garage

f1vlad - I've actually taken a new feed direct from the battery using 10AWG wire via a fuse. This goes to the boot of the car and then into a 6 way fused distribution block. That way as most of the additional electronics is being mounted in the boot, you have a host of additional fused feeds if you need them, to future amps etc. The ground was also taken from the chassis nice and close to the distribution block. A picture of this block i used can be seen on my web site under the 'Boot Build' heading - http://www.wrx-carpc.co.uk/specification

As for the !2v Ignition, haven't tested this yet, but i think this will be taken fro the radio loom as it should be low current drain.

    Hope this helps,

    Steve

    Steve, thanks!

This seems to be a smart route to go which I may take. But before I do that, I am wondering if 12v from headunit is enough for my car computer or not? See I am getting rid of my headunit completely.

Its going to be unlikely mate. See what fuse you have which feeds the head-unit and then what power consumption you are likely to take from the CarPC.

Where are you mounting the CarPC?

I thought the head-unit would be the easy route. But you know what it is like, once something is in and working you don't really want to change it. If you do the designated feed once, then thats it. You won't be dissapointed and you will feel happy that you are not likely to set fire to the car with an electrical overload on the head-unit wiring !!

Out of interest, what did you do your car system diagram in, would you be kind enought to send me the source. I am looking at doing something similar for my web site, but with hyperlinked photgraphs of each stage.

    Many thanks,

    Steve.
