If You mean the IBM soundcard as "stock, yes I am planning on keeping it at first but I could just put in a sounblaster adigy z usb or whatever they are called if that improves. But my last car amplifier just had regular rca plugs and on the faq here they just reccommend using a y splitter to split my soundcard stereoplug into monoplugs and then into my amp. I havent figured out if my current sound card is line out or headphone. Anyway do You suggest using a spdif?

i was reffering to the actual cars system. so ill assume you have an amp of some sort. you know i really dont know, im going to be goin with an extigy minijack>splitter>crossover>amps. but i may end up using the optical stuff somehow.
what are the details on the dvd setup?

Currently it is jus the factory audio system, but there are shops that dont sell anything else than car amps an speakers so It wont be the hardest part to figure out.
On the dvd setup - havent bought anything yet!

Well maybe 10meters is to long but I need a usb cable from my "super 7" touchscreen" and my pc with gfx card will be in trunk and I must drag the cable under everything around seats and back behind the midconsole and when I tested at home with a 5 meter usb cable from pc to a printer recently, the printer did not print anything on command. It dit with a 3m cable

It´s a E46 320 year 2002, I dont want to keep my headunit, just want to use the already installed radio antenna which goes back to rear windshield so I will have to find a solution (not pci since I have a laptop) that can recieve fm signals to my pc.

I got this port replicator, so I guess there isnt any room for a pcmcia card unless I put it in the actual pc. And I would like it to be as dockable as possible without attaching many wires. So if it is possible in some way to upgrade to 2.0 via the port replicator/dock (which does have a 2.0 port now but it is unusable at high speed) I would be very happy!

T Seris lappy ( I've got one ).... the full size docking station ( which you can get ) takes one media device ( ie CDrom DVD etc ) and has one full PCI slot how ever its USB 1 all the way through. Now I'm not sure if I am missing the point but do you really need USB 2, I've not needed USB 2 on any of my projects because most of the devices ie GPS etc have not been.... just a thought.

I don't use touchscreen : too much reflects as you can see on photo.

Under the armrest i have a powermate (the silver-button) with a touchpad, plugs for Usb and minidin for Keyboard and mouse. Theses uses an USB adapter (so they become plug and play) and a usb Hub under touchpad and powermate. so i can reach rear trunk with only 5m.

I think You could reduce reflects by tilting the display up a bit but that might be uncomfortable for usage/viewing. Just a thought.

I will as said, sell my oem-stereo but I have looked and searched for a device that recieves fm and uses the usb plug since I cant have pci. Maybe there is a external soundcard that has got fm-tuner.. dont know..

Look at post #3, ofcourse many devices dont need usb 2.0 but since the price difference isnt that big... Anyway I just purchased a firewire/usb combo card for my computer, I wont be out of usb connectors that thing is for sure!
