Drew’s Carputer Project

Vehicle: 2006 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab, White

PC: Apple Mac Mini- solo core, 1.25 GB Ram, 120 GB running winxp –

Monitor: SP-716 7" MOTORIZED TFT TOUCH SCREEN CAR PC MONITOR TV, I want to install this upside down and invert screen. I haven’t tested I hope it works. This would look much better would only cover a/c controls.

PANASONIC CQ-C7103U CD/MP3 PLAYER WITH MOTORIZED DETACHABLE FACE &
MATRIX DISPLAY

XMD 1000

XM Direct Connect cable

XV6700 PPCP USB Dial up modem. Very fast EVDO connection. Use Sling box to watch TV and access my tivo content and stream mp3 collection from home.

Power: Carnetix P1900 Ver. 2.2 W/ "MacPac"

Need:
2. GPS and software –
4. Serial to USB adapter
5. DVI to VGA high shield cable – Length?
6. 3.5 Stereo to RCA cable or adapter Length?
7. IR Receiver? MCE remote
8. Mini-Key USB Keyboard DGPN-570
9. USB Hub

I am going to have my local stereo shop do most of my install, NOT good with any wires or electricity. I have assembled most of the main parts and can’t wait to do the install. Thanks to everyone on the forums for tons of great info and help.

I Have got my Carputer installed! So far everything is comming together. I installed the monitor in the top din and the head unit below. The MacMini is under the front drivers seat. The Mini fits pefectly underneath seat rail. I ended up using a TurtleBeach Roadie for sound. I was having a problem getting sound from XM and as soon as routed it through Roadie all was good. USB hub in center counsole.
Using FrodoPlayer and it is great!

Havn't got the stat up shut down contorler working right?

Thanks to all the members that have posted and explained everything to make my project started.

Hi There, was just wondering how you acheived the inversion. Is it some a feature of the Macs drivers which allow it to be upside down, or is there some in-line hardware device?

Did you have to load any special drivers or modify the touchscreen components in any way for this to function upside down?

Hopefully I'll be able to replicate this and avoid sawing off a chunk of my dashboard which protrudes above the DIN slot.

eneded up instaling it the standered way. It would not clear the lip below to fold out all the way. In the video settings there is a way to invert. i was nervous about the touch screen being inverted though. This way i dont have to worry about any custom settings.

Damn, I was hoping you had gotten it working in the inverted position as I was looking to do the same thing.
