Was it the tint or the defroster grid? I don't think tint can affect it.

    Nice setup

I was just wondering what all do you need to install that screen into the dash like that. I bought an indash motorized lilliput. its not fitting to well though. I would like mine to look fabricated as well. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

The screen is a Lilliput eby701. That and a dremel + some time and epoxy and you can get the same results!

As far as the gps goes, its either the tint or the angle of the back glass. if i sit the receiver on the hump over the gas tank under the hatch, it wont lock at all. For the time being, ive taped it to the top of the rear windshield right at the "dotted" area. its view of the sky is the same, but it locks much faster. Im not sure which it is. but i figured it was the tint and not the angle of the glass.

Regardless, I just got home from my first "outing" with the car pc. Took a 120 mile each way trip tonight. Used the pc for music and guidance the way there, then guidance and entertained my fiance on the way back with Family guy Blue Harvest and Office Space on the way home. It worked flawlessly and made me quite proud!!

Update: This project has been removed from the car. I finally did get it up and running pretty reliably, but did suffer some crashes. Eventually I had a total crash of the system and pulled out the computer itself for testing. The car was also parked, and was no longer my daily driver (a goal I have had since day one of purchasing it.) I still have the car, but it has undergone some more performance upgrades and is probably sitting around 400-410 rwhp. I putt around town in it and thats about it. Its not often enough to enjoy a full blown carpc. That being said, I've removed the entire system and I'm currently in the process of recycling some of the parts for a build in my current daily driver, a 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLX wagon. Ill be starting a worklog on this one soon.
