Is the rear better or can you mount it up front? (I don't know where your laptop is)

In the rear you might try next to the jack. It's more centered and it only has plastic and carpet above it. In the front, under the dash pad is best.

I actually never did post pictured of where I mounted the laptop. I'll have to change that. I put the laptop inside of one of the boxes that they ship laptops in and I modified it so all of the wires can come out of it. It has the white plastic like material protecting it which absorbs most of the vibrations. I then put the box in place of the spare tire and jack. It fits perfectly and I haven't had a problem with it yet. I would like to find a way to fit the spare tire back in there though... I usually don't go far so I haven't been too concerned about it.

I didn't get to drive the car today like I thought I would and I probably won't drive it again until Friday in which I'll be driving down to see the lady. I'll test both locations you mentioned. Right now I have it where the jack would have been.

I can mount it either in the front or the back. I have a usb hub in the front. If you think the front would be better I'll put it up there. When you say "under the dash pad" are you referring to the space right behind the stock radio?

If you pull both a-pillar covers the big pad that has the air grills in it pops off. There is room under there. The actual dash may have a steel liner, I'm not sure, but the forward dash pad is just plastic and you have the whole windshield above it.

I bought an auto power on module and I wish I would have done it a LONG time ago. You can check it out HERE.

The only problem I had was the jack that came with the unit did NOT work. I don't know if something was wrong with mine or what. I had to remove the jack and wire the yellow and green wires to my button directly. Support is also lacking... I emailed as per the instructions that came with it and I never heard from the guy. It did ship out very quickly though. Also, now that it's working I love it! It was worth every penny.

I'll be adding the shutdown controller soon as well. You can check it out HERE.

Well I got frustrated enough with my carpc last year to yank this bad boy out. I still have the touch screen in. I had too many problems with my laptop and running a usb cable the length of the car. My future plans are to build a pc in behind where the head unit would normally sit and start over. It'll be better this way.
