One more thing i forgot to mention: The double din for Accord is not made by Honda, but some other company, you can buy that off of crutchfield.com
Adapter it comes with allows you to connect your stock but you wont hear any sound from it, i had to create my own harness and splitter to get my second din going with the stock, even though i can only have it on one at a time.

Sweet someone else in the loop... I'm not a programmer or elect. engineer..or had the time to learn, but it seems like the phidgetts web page gives a possible solution with usb controlled motors... to help with the opening the door. you can write a quick program that could run on start up, and run on power off.

I can't remember what honda uses, but i can look at my manual and tell you.

I took the screen out to work on it over the weekend - more bondo, repaint + maybe play around to see how to make it to open/close by itself.

what I’m thinking is to have a circuit with a capacitor in it -- motor will open the door (not sure how yet... maybe a belt or a wire which motor will pull) after the cap. is charged motor will stop. opening should be fairly easy. but closing the door is a little trickier, since I’m not running any wires straight from the battery -- I’m using the cig. lighter and it is off when the car is off. I was thinking of using the charge from the cap. to give it a push and then gravity will finish the job, but I’m not sure if cap. will have enough juice in it for that... I guess I have to dig out my physics book.

another thought i had -- if i buy that PIE aux in with sony cd-changer interface, i think there is a hack with a pic chip to send sony cd-changer commands to the pc... that way i can send commands to the pc right from the HU controlls (or steering wheel controls if you have them).

anyway here are side pictures someone wanted.

How long did you spend on the entire project?

Also, after you cut up the cubby hole, how much time did you spend on after thatt?

I thought about putting a usb port there on the drivers side right next to where the traction control buttons are.... would look clean and a little hidden

you can easily fab it in one weekend... if you know what you are doing you can do it in one day... i spend around 4-5 days, becase i redid the thing 3 times.

the cover stays open. keeping the spring probably wouldn't work out... at least not with my screen.

    ghetto door opener

here is what i ended up with for an automatic door opener... i've used a spare 12V motor and a pushbutton i ripped out of an old printer

the motor spins on the string, which opens the door, the door pushes the button, which cuts off the power for the motor.

so far it works fine... to keep it simple i decided to close the door manualy... at least for now.
