seriously look into newer car. Keep the yota as like a daily so that you can do a nice clean break down and rebuild of the * whatever. Plus for all that work you'd wanna do to the cam....Might as well make a stand and strip it all the way down to frame and rebuild it like new....F'THAT, new car. VW, Subi, Honda, Toyota, Ford, they all make cars for like 20k or less!

Nope.... im stripping down my camry and rebuilding from the frame up... AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME

    Muahhahahahhahah

Nah but it is a challenge I want to take on. I have held the idea of doing crazy customizations to this car since i knew what the word custom ment. The car has been in my family since before I was born, theres no way im giving it up. Also, for such a huge undertaking i wouldnt want to touch a new car.... after spending so much on a single item id be too nervous to. This way i spend a lot of little bits of money so it doesnt seem as bad....

I think im changing things a bit. With the V6 engine, i will have little room in the engine compartment to add a turbo... so I think i will either add a turbo to my I4 engine and replace the automatic with a manual or i will get a V6 without the turbo.

Either way im canning the OBD-II idea and going to go with a custom programmable ECU. I am leaning very much toward the MegaSquirt II v3 PCB. It seems very very versitile and will work no matter what engine i decide on.

ummm... i have a question.... WHY??? i mean why are you wasting your money on a 20 year old car. no matter how much money you put into it, you will never get back that value. when your done it might look good, but everyone is going to wonder why. maybe you need a reality check... ITS A FREAKIN '87 CAMERY!!! GOOD GOD MAN!!! At 16k, the amount you're talking about puting into the car, you can buy a brand new car. well i give you props for the work involved in something like this, but personally i think you are insane. if you want a v6 or turbo-4 banger, why not invest in a VW, Subaru, nissan, or even maybe try your luck with an american v8. i have, and it is pure bliss. . you could get a used mustang gt for 8-12k thats in better shape and there are a million parts for it. i had one. let me tell you, having 300tq (stock) on tap is great. i have toasted many turbo-4's and v-6's in my stindt with my GT. well i think that its gonna be a waste of money, but hey its your money...

Yep and im damn proud of my 87 camry

Im looking to turn it into a show car more than a street/track racing vehicle. Its more for me to learn and see what i am capable of. Sure its a 20 year old vehicle but ive been damn proud of it thus far and i dont plan to stop now. Call me dumb call me stupid I dun care!
