what are you going to use as the auto startup/shutdown controller
Hi, welcome to the forums!
What is a PWP RSX? Is that like an import thing?
I'm still trying to cross the hurdle of my broken lcd, but I just recieved a few parts (including a ATI remote wonder 2, and a Griffin Powermate) so I'm gonna work on adding those in the meantime. The computer aspect of my project is done.
Here is my to-do list:
- Fix LCD
- Buy GPS (BU-353)
- Buy Bluetooth Dongle
- Buy new cell phone with bluetooth
- Position backup camera
- Buy auto startup/shutdown controller for laptop
- Buy Female-Female VGA Adapter
- Get WifiHopper to work on TinyXP
- Fabricate an enclosure for the amp, laptop, and antennas
- Fabricate in Griffin Powermate
- Find a good place for USB hub
what are you going to use as the auto startup/shutdown controller
I am going to build W3bMa5t3r's auto power on module for laptops.
Here is the link:
Laptop Auto Power-On / Turn-On Module
what are you doing/using to power everything
I am using a 140 Watt power inverter to power the laptop, and I spliced the lilliput power cable into the front ACC socket. I tested everything, and the inverter isn't giving me any ground noise.
I ordered a new controller board for my lilliput from motorcitytech, and it should arrive shortly (it was $95 with shipping). I am going to figure out how to get my usb peripherals plugged in today.
USB Peripherals:
Four Port USB Hub - Front (Cabin):
- Lilliput Touchscreen (In front headunit area)
- Griffin Powermate (In driver's side door)
- 2 Misc. Dash Molded USB Ports
Four Port USB Hub - Rear (Trunk):
- ATI Remote Wonder 2 (Mounted in trunk enclosure)
- Bluetooth Adapter (Mounted in trunk enclosure)
- GPS Reciever (Mounted in trunk enclosure
- Linksys 802.11g Adapter (Mounted in trunk enclosure)
Laptop USB Ports - Trunk:
- Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000 - Backup Camera (Mounted in trunk)
- External Hard Drive (In trunk enclosure)
- Laptop Auto-Power on module (Mounted in trunk enclosure)
This isn't my car (notice it's auto), but I didn't have a good picture of the trunk. I wanted to make an enclosure for the laptop/amp/everything else, so this is a quick sketch of how it will look. I plan on making it out of mdf, and covering it with carpet similar to the car's interior. Once the screen is in place, this will be my next project.
I decided to reinstall the OS, since TinyXP was holding it back. There were many programs that would not run/install (WiFiHopper, ATI RW2 software, etc..) and I figure that I can make it similar in run speeds by disabling services/using minlogon/etc... Luckily, I had 2 partitions (C: = windows, E: = everything else) so it shouldn't take too long, since I don't need to reinstall some of the programs.
since you powered your laptop through an inverter...how do you turn on your laptop
I am in the process of building W3bma5t3r's Auto Power on circuit, as shown in This thread.
