Normally I get a wire hanger, straighten it out and use that to run cables. It is usually stiff enough yet flexible enough to push through. Sellotape the cable to end end then just pull through![]()
TODAY :: FEB. 12, 2007
stopped my local audio guys, and asked them if they would have time this week to pre-run the wires under my carpet.. They gave me the thumbs up, and i will take my vehicle to them tomorrow at noon..
btw, this shop is reputable, they do great work and have been in a few SEMA shows for there Installs/Custom works..So i know my car is in good hands..
So looks like no new updates until this weekend, when car is returned, and hopefully bezel comes in the mail![]()

nice.. unfortunately it might just be me, and i am horrible at this but i could not do it with the wire hanger, i tried but damn the pads are THICk.. lol, and i would need to remove teh rear panels and seat-belt anchor in order to have more carpet lift. Since its the weekday by the time i come home from work its to dark to work on it, and i wanted it to get done by this wknd, as i need to take it out to palos verdes, to have new rotors/pads installed.. but ya, i tried the hanger trick and it just seems to difficult so i gave up
btw- damn great skini will be using the Idrive Skin when all is running

alright guys, finally had time to upload some pics. and finish up the install..![]()
anyhow, so i left off taking my car back home from my audio guys after they had run the wires from front dash to rear trunk.. the guy was cool enough, to fabricate a simple mounting structure for my PC which i had him integrate it with the empty spot in the rear of the trunk..
Backside of the Structure ::
Frontside of the Structure ::
Now this is where i decided to mount the PC, sufficient Air for cooling and still looks nice and discreet as well as not in the way when need to put snowboards in the trunk.. The wiring will be cleaned up once everything is situated and up and running!!
Before ::
After ::
As for the the Screen/Bezel.. Once again RICH came through with a great awesome Bezel, seriously the pictures do not compare to how they look like in person.. I have already gotten many compliments on the bezel and screen from people at work/friends and just enthusiast all around..
Here is a old pic, I will post pic later tonight when it gets dark that way the glare doesnt get in the way of the screen when lit up..
.. So far so good.. on the project, still not quite done yet, i have an issue now that i never had before (well at least when testing on a AC/DC 200wPSU at home ??) Please HELP, if you have any suggestions I created a new thread adressing the problem HERE
Many thanks to everyone that helped me through the tough times![]()
ZEBEL, and SRCSTC (Rich/mybimmer.net) .. and of course the mods and forum members who as well gave in there .02 cents..![]()

Hey, It looks like it is coming together quite nicely. Nice Job!
I like the PC case and it was a good idea to mount it in the corner of the trunk like you did. I toyed with the same idea too but my PC case was too thick compared to yours.
thanks.. lol.. now the touch screen isnt working ?? well it works when i calibrate and test draw.. but it wont work on the whole windows enviroment ?? lol..

sun came down.. so better lighting.... here are a couple of skins i am currently debating on using..
the IDRIVE ::
or
the E36 ::
personally i like the E36 Menu layout the font/color matches my climate control/instrument cluster font/color.. but the idrive gives it more of the BMW feel.. well i might run the idrive for now...
ohh ya, i'll post more pics of the GPS/Playlist/Movies/Traffic/Google Satellite/FM Radio.. and other features when i aquire the parts later this week..

Nice pics and nice work!![]()
Hey nice photos... Let me give you a little advice on the pics, although you picked up a good time to take pthe photos (sunset), you should also reduce the backlight and brightness of your LCD monitor. I had the same problem when I was tryingto take "show off" photos, the screen images got too over exposed.
