    Software tuning::

    :::Suggestions/comments welcome:::

    All music ripped by myself with EAC and FLAC compression.
    --Not decided on the music player, I use Foobar at home, may not be user friendly for the vehicle.

    edit: Looks like i am going to try Roadrunner as it used Winamp as it's music player, and I can set up Winamp to play FLAC and also output via ASIO to the Echo Layla3g..

    WinMLS software for analyzing
    --Layla3G has mic preamp, using Behringer ECM8000
    Frequency Allocator Light
    Voxengo delay VST plug-In
    Not decided on EQ as the Frequency allocator may have enough EQ for me.(looks like 4 bands PEQ on each frequency range, so 16 channels of PEQ total)
    AudioMulch, VSTHost, or Console for a VST host
    possibly Virtual Audio Cable

    looks like a good project!

    don't forget that you can upload a bunch of images here on this site and not have to use the attachments method.

    Will make threads like this a bit easier for you.

    OKAY then, Many delays with my work sending me away from the house a bit..

    The power distribution is mostly worked out, mostly installed already from previous install.. I just have to install the new alternator and the second battery, then will be almost done with power..

    Notice the 700 Watt DC/DC power supply.. This should supply extremely clean (free of A/C ripple) and regulated power to the computer, monitor, and AudioControl MVC.(Master Volume Control)

    I also have (3) 1.2 Farad capacitors, one for each amp, if the amps show any signs of Noise. Capacitors are a great filter for DC power..

    Reference for Caps as Filters

    2nd referece for Capacitance as Filter

    There is probably no need for a second battery with the Alternator upgrade.. The second Battery tray is already there from a previous install and includes the Power distr. block and fuse holders.... I decided to go with a second Kinetic rather than tearing the whole previous install out.(NO excuse, I know.. I just wanted 2)

    I have not installed the New Rainbows yet.. I am just now in the sound deadening and power part of the install.. They are 3-way, the 6.5 will go in the door, the 4" in the Kickpanels, and the tweeters 4-6" above the dash in the A-Pillar.(or in the Kickpanel with the 4", will havbe to try both)

    Previously to this install I had been using Rainbow CAL25 tweeters(an older model) with some DIY focal 7K2 kevlar 7". Those tweeters are the reason I picked Rainbow for my new install, the tweeters just sound so 'Right' to me, but every ear is different.. We do not have a Rainbow Dealer anywhere here, but the new tweeters, CAL26vof, are supposed to be very similar to the CAL25, maybe a little higher quality.. It is a mellow laid back tweeter, just like me.. haha

    I'm having a hard time understanding how installing the speakers so far from each other will sound right?

    Well, to be honest I will be trying a few different scenarios..

    1) 4" in kickpanel and tweeter in A-piller

    2) 4" and tweeter both in Kickpanel

    I have always had my tweeters in the door or sailpanel and have never used a 3-way front stage so this will be experimenting..

    I will reference Werewolf on DIYMA, he brings up some interesting points on the speaker placement.. Further into the thread many people chime in how putting the tweeter in the A-piller and mid in the kick works great. I will give it a try with some double sided tape at first, we shall see..

    Pros&Cons of Kickpanel Speakers

    I am by no means an expert but do trust my ears, so experimenting will be the name of the game with speaker placement.

    There is no doubt in my mind that Werewolf knows his stuff. I just can't give him much since just about everything I ever read from him is so negative it's disgusting. I've honnestly never read so many posts from one guy on one forum that are so negative in tone.

    Just be careful with what he says, don't take his word for gold, but it is worth taking into consideration.
