nice idea...wont work. it is an hp computer im trying to get this from. They dont use a cd, the but the backup image on a hidden partition. now getting to that abckup partition is not a problem, but there is two issues with that....first, the image uses some special program to extract it and the second problem is that even if i could extract it...it will not install on any pc other than that hp...it can sense the computers hardware.

anyways...im at a loss, any other ideas?

the screenys look fairly nice..... but if its anything like windows media player it will sound cruddy, and be another piece of bloatware....

still, might be good for some ideas along the line I spose....

an insider at microsoft has informed me that although it is a nice piece of software, you need specialized hardware out there (it only works on a very small range of expensive video cards) and would be far overkill for anything that we wanted.

Seriously, for what we need it for, we can easily make something that will look similar, be much smaller and do everything that we need.

(It also doesn't even come on the normal set of MSDN CDs, you need the billion dollar/year enterprise MSDN edition to get it)

There's a button just below the "your reply" and "options" sections when you're typing in your messages that says "attach file".

additionally if you have a server you can use the IMG button in the vB code area.

otherwise drop me an email and I'll throw it up on my website.

i would be interested in seein screen shots of your progress.

i have annother idea too. I have played around with the media-box software a lot. www.media-box.org i was thinking of making a skin package for it that looks like media center. with media-box you can link the functions to outside apps if so desired.

i have also aquried a beta version of media center. it works just fine, but it has a timebomb on it so it will only work while your system date is set to july. just got it thismorning so i havent had much time to play with it yet, but i do know that at least the music and picture sections works. i dont have any remote so i was unable to test that function. if someone has the program folder to the real medai center i would really like to take a look at it and see what i can do to get it working.
